Victorian, 18ct Gold, Rare, Aesthetic Period Locket

A Magnificent Victorian Aesthetic movement locket in 18 & 22ct Gold c1880

This large Victorian locket is a rare piece, beautifully hand crafted in solid, Tri colour 18ct Gold on a 22ct Gold bail.

The painstakingly hand crafted details to the front of the locket are a testament to the fine craftsmanship of the period, the Japanese inspired design depicts a hand engraved backdrop of foliate and floral motifs, raised hand applied swooping Bird and dragonfly and a Greek style urn, the top right corner folding over to expose an embossed detailed panel

The locket opens up on the left hand side and contains the original glass insert that sits snuggly within the front section , the rear of the locket is plain in design with a slightly convex profile

The locket opens up and closes very securely with a firm click

The locket comes with a Safeguard (part of the Birmingham assay office) Jewellery assessment certificate, XRF tested as solid 18ct Gold and 22ct Gold bail
