Victorian, 15ct Gold, Triple Swallow Brooch
A fabulous, Victorian, 15ct Gold, triple swallow brooch, c1890s
The brooch features 3 swooping swallows, each one hand crafted in solid 15ct Gold and fully detailed including little faces and beaks and textured feathers.
The 15ct Gold is rich and warm, with a matt 'bloomed' finish
Swallows were a popular motif in the Victorian period, symbolising love and faithfulness (swallows mate for life) and were often given to a loved one before they embarked on a journey as a good luck token that would ensure their safe return
The Brooch is beautiful, of high quality and a rare piece.
The brooch closes with a simple c clasp and pin (the pin is base metal and looks to have been replaced at some point) the brooch also has a safety chain for added security

The brooch is unmarked, which is often the case in pieces of this age, fully tested as 15ct Gold
