A Fabulous, Antique, 18ct Gold, Old European Cut Diamond & Opal, Cluster dress ring c1900

This wonderful eye catching Antique ring is of large proportions, a real statement piece! The white Australian Opal cabochon is subtly muted in its colour display of predominantly greens and yellows with an inner pink glow when it catches the light. The silky smooth Opal is bezel set in 18ct yellow Gold with millegrain detail that frames it beautifully and contrasts against the platinum set Diamonds

The halo of old European cut Diamonds do steal the show here, 12 of the most dazzling and white examples, all well matched and hand cut, pinging brilliance in all directions with a total weight of 1.25 carat

The setting sits atop knife edge shoulders that fall to a d shaped band, presently quite a large size, the ring can be sized to suit

The 12 old cut Diamonds are all 3mm round and have an estimated, in the setting, total carat weight of 1.25 carat, clarity VS2 - SI2, Colour H-I

The Australian Opal Cabochon is 11x6.7x3mm and estimated as 1.4 carat, there is a patch of matrix (some of the host rock that hasn't been polished off) visible to the rear of the opal but this cannot be seen at all when worn or from the top of the ring
