Victorian, Solid 18ct Gold Sardonyx, Seal Signet Ring, Hallmarked in 1866

This is a Magnificent, hand crafted, Mid Victorian Seal signet ring, hand crafted in solid 18ct Gold and steeped in History. The ring would have been worn on a Gentleman's pinky finger and used to seal letters by stamping the front of the ring in hot wax, the monogram carved into the Sardonyx would then read I R within the wax stamp. So this ring would have had a practical use as well as being beautifully ornamental

The ring has the most beautiful and unique, embossed detailing surrounding the setting and to the shoulders that are crisp and well defined, the ring remains in superb condition for its 158 years!

The Oval hand carved Sardonyx is shiny and bright, the surface being a translucent white that lets the burnt orange hue show through, with a bevelled edge that frames the stone

Very comfortable to wear, in heavy gauge 18ct Gold, nice and chunky!
